Sorensen, who joined the series three years ago, is taking a break from television to fulfill a childhood dream to be a soldier in the Australian Army.
"I’ve been playing their pretend dad since they were just 12 weeks old, I’ve experienced their milestones and now they are walking," said Sorensen. "It takes a lot for me to tear up but saying good-bye to Alia and Gabriella is one of those moments."
The identical twins Alia and Gabriella de Vercelli, 1 year-old, joined the series last year and are adjusting to their new father. For Mullally, 20, it has been a baptism of fire having taken on his first TV role and working with babies,
"I know a whole lot more about teething since I joined the show," he said.

It's happened - James Sorensen has left the Street and his replacement Erin Mullally has moved in. Erin - who started on air Monday May 3rd - has been handed charge of twin toddlers who play his daughter India, a baptism of fire for the first timer in TV.
