Neighbours is loved and watched by millions in the UK, the competition represents an opportunity to tap into the enormous talent around the country and present them on the international stage that Neighbours provides, which has launched many international careers for stars such as Natalie Bassingthwaite, Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce.
The competition started on April 19th, and will run for six weeks. All aspiring female actors in England have been invited to upload their auditions to You Tube, which Channel Five in the UK will use as a platform to engage with fans of one of its biggest shows. Currently there have been over 300 uploaded audition videos. All the videos will be viewed by a panel from Five and Fremantle Media Australia.
In June, Five will announce their top five finalists on air and then the British public will decide on the final two, who will then fly out to Australia for a week of orientation with the cast and crew. Once the week is up, Susan Bower and the cast will then decide on the winner, who will start a four-week contract filming the role of Poppy Rogers. Poppy Rogers will come to Ramsay Street as a friend of Mal Kennedy. Poppy will be staying with the Kennedy family, alongside Karl and Susan, two of the show’s most loved characters.
The competition marks Neighbours 25th Anniversary year.
